One of the Eight Dragons of the Xun family. One of Cao Cao's most important advisors.
Xun Yu convinced Cao Cao to secure Emperor Xian in his base. This move proved to be a defining moment in Cao Cao's career. He also advised Cao Cao correctly on key battles including the battles against Lu Bu and Yuan Shao. Xun Yu was also credited for recommending many of Cao Cao's top officials.
In his later life, Xun Yu fell out of Cao Cao's favor for openly opposing Cao Cao's wish of promoting himself to king. He died of grief in 212 AD. It was rumored Cao Cao had forced him to commit suicide.
